With only ten suites and a maximum of twenty guests, the Zaltana offers a quieter, more personal way to explore the Rio Negro. Small-group excursions allow more time with your guides, wildlife and the places you visit.
Closer to the Amazon
Leave the main vessel aboard expedition canoes and enter flooded forests, narrow channels and quiet riverbanks. Walk rainforest trails, search for wildlife and experience life along the Rio Negro at river level.
Luxury with Purpose
Comfort aboard the Zaltana is designed to deepen the journey, not distance you from it. Thoughtful service, regional cuisine, Citizen Science and long-term local partnerships connect each expedition to the Amazon in a more meaningful way.
EXPERIENCE THE UPPER RIO NEGRO
One of the Amazon’s most remote regions reveals a world of rivers, mountains, rainforest and living cultures.
Each day begins with the freedom to discover the landscapes and people surrounding Zaltana Lodge. Travel by expedition boat along blackwater rivers, enter quiet forest channels, walk rainforest trails and spend meaningful time with Indigenous communities whose cultures have shaped the Upper Rio Negro for generations.
Here, the destination determines the rhythm. Weather, river conditions, wildlife and community life make every day different.
THE UPPER RIO NEGRO INDIGENOUS JOURNEY
A journey shaped together with the people who call this region home.
During a 4-day / 3-night or 5-day / 4-night journey, guests set out each day aboard our motorized expedition boats to visit five Indigenous communities representing around ten distinct ethnic groups, including the Tukano, Baré and others.
Rather than observing Indigenous culture from the outside, guests are welcomed into experiences developed together with local communities, creating opportunities to learn about ancestral knowledge, everyday life, food, crafts, traditions and the enduring relationship between people and the rainforest.
Each community determines what it wishes to share, creating encounters based on respect, dialogue and cultural autonomy.
